Assam, a small state in the Northeastern part of India is my home state. Although I have lived in Bangalore for almost 2 decades, my roots in this place are still intact. Assam is quite well known for its Tea and Natural Oil Ores along with with its One Horned Rhinos. But what I love the most about it is the handloom industry which has been an eminent part of the Assamese Society for centuries.

Almost every household boasted of expert weavers and people would weave every thing from the famous and symbolic Gamosa to the 2 piece saree called Mekhela Sador in their own backyards. Although this is fast changing these days with industrialization and modern techniques, the handloom industry still manages to retain its originality along with the traditionalism. The handloom industry of the state is centered in the town of Sualkuchi on the banks of the might River Brahmaputra.

Silk from this part of the country is very unique and famous. The main silks you will find in Assam are Muga (golden silk), Paat (Mulberry silk) and Eri. Did you know that the silk type varies based on the type of silkworm/caterpillars and what it eats?

The Mekhela Sador I styled here is a Paat Silk one and is the bridal set in which every Assamese bride gets married and yes, this was mine. I have 2! So I had to do something with these and not let them sit in my wardrobe. Hence I decided to create this semi-fusion look that I could carry to a friends wedding or sangeet. I skipped the good old blouse for a floral bodysuit and tied the Mekhela Sador in the traditional way, however for the ease of carrying it around, clenched it with a corset belt, added these nice pom-pom earrings and finished the look off with yellow heels. I decided to keep my hair and makeup simple and let my Mekhela Sador do all the talking 😉

This look can be easily created using a saree too. I am proud of my roots and you can find me experimenting with traditional attires from all over North East very often and when I do, I promise to share it with you.

Until then,

Let’s spread that love

Its been over 6 months since I started sharing my personal styling with you guys. When I started I was merely doing it for fun and for the fact that I had a strong interest in the field. Little did I know that it’s such a vast world and there are already so many existing stylist and bloggers doing such fantastic work. Didn’t realize how these past 6-8 months flew by while playing with clothes and accessories.

But now its time I returned all your love with more than just sharing 2 lines about my Outfit and make getsherried a lot more fun. As such I have started working on a new look for the page and in the upcoming days wish to touch on a variety of topics starting from beauty and health tips, exercise routines, DIY’s, Fashion trends along with personal styling…cause I know of no other way to return all your immense love and support that I am so grateful for!

I hope the future holds bigger brighter and better things for all of us!

As for my look here, wore this beautiful printed dress for a long drive over the weekend and added the fishnets to the otherwise simple look, heels that compliments the fishnets and a hat for some shade. I have straight hair naturally and often get bored of it, hence to get some waves I had braided my wet hair the previous night and all I had to do was open them up and use some hairspray to get this volume and texture. Simple accessories completed my look. 🙂

Hope you like this easy breezy street style.

Dress: Vero Moda on, Fishnet stockings: ebay, Heels: Koovs, Hat: H&M Store

Until next time… ❤

P.S: I like to kep it real and raw and hence use minimally edited pictures to give you a feel of how it would actually look without all that photoshopping! Hope you guys don’t mind that. 😀

Color me Red!

Red – the color of Blood and Fire, the color of Love and Passion, the color of Energy and Confidence and the color we wear in February! Cause it the month of Love!

Personally I don’t have even a single romantic bone in my body and have no plans for the V-day as well. But that wasn’t going to stop me from dressing up. So what better time then to flaunt my beautiful red jumpsuit which had been lying in my closet for over 6 months (yes, I am a hoarder :P).

Since the jumpsuit already had beautiful silver detailing on both the front and back, decided to pull my hair into a top bun to show that off, kept my accessories minimal with just a pair of silver earrings, wore a pearl studded ring and strapped stilettoes to finish my look. As this was more of a night look, decided to carry my fur shrug to keep me warm but couldn’t use it intensively during the shoot because of the sun :P. For the makeup, I just went with nude lips and mild smokey eyes as I didn’t want the complete look to be too dramatic.

JUMPSUIT – Marquee by Kangana Ranaut for Vero Moda on Myntra, EARRINGS – Kazo on Myntra, HEELS – Carlton London on Myntra, RING – Local Store, FAUX FUR SHRUG – Espirit, SUNNIES – Koovs

So yeah, that would be my date night look, not necessarily on Valentine’s day. 😀

Hope you guys like it. Wishing you loads of love and warmth all year round, here’s me signing off until the next time ❤

Sheer Trouble!

(Jacket – People on Jabong, Skirt – Forever21, Shoes – Adidas Originals, On my lips – NYX Vamp Lip Cream Temptress)

Its been a while since we met; sorry for MIA. How have you been?

Today, I wish to share a look I created using one of the most trending materials of current times – Sheer! And I am obsessed with it too. As many of you know, I was in Hong Kong last month and the fashion there is fast and amazing. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a lot of street style pictures to share with you guys but I will definitely try to recreate the Sherried version of some.

Anyways, coming back to this look, it was inspired by this outfit display at H&M HK.

Now, I could have picked up the sheer dress and recreated this look, but that’s usually not how I like to dress up. I feel every look should have your own touch to it and do not believe in copy things as is. So once back, dug up my closet to find these existing sheer pieces and hence came this look.

So what do you guys think? Do you like it?

Until next time,
